{"id":4898,"date":"2020-08-29T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-29T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/?p=4898"},"modified":"2022-12-08T15:11:10","modified_gmt":"2022-12-08T14:11:10","slug":"vis-island-uses-solar-power-plant-to-create-its-own-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/vis-island-uses-solar-power-plant-to-create-its-own-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"Vis Island uses solar power plant to create its own energy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Croatian energy operator <strong>HROTE<\/strong> and <strong>Vis Solar Power plant (SPP Vis)<\/strong> signed a contract about temporarily entering the energy market, effective till the end of probation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SPP Vis is the first power plant (with the effective power of over 1 MW) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/island-vis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on Vis Island<\/a>, and the first one in Croatia which will <strong>directly participate in the electrical energy market<\/strong>, as a member of the Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP) group, without previous participation in feed-in incentive system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SPP Vis power is estimated to be<strong> 3.5 MW<\/strong>, and it <strong>covers an area of 5.5 ha<\/strong>, <strong>near the village of Zena Glava<\/strong>, about 3.6 kilometers from Vis Town, and about 4.8 kilometers east of Komiza. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Power plant has 11.200 photovoltaic modules installed, combining a total power of 340 Wp. Also, a medium voltage cable network was installed, with a total length of 5.2 kilometers. Five frequency converters with a total power of 720 kW were built in, made by the <strong>Croatian company Koncar<\/strong>, which serves as a partner to HEP on this project.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estimated yearly production of electricity is about<strong> five million kwH of electricity, which could serve the needs of about 1600 households.<\/strong> By building this power station, island of Vis got its own source of renewable energy, as well as better security when it comes to supplying the electricity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The investment is valued at <strong>31.3 million Kunas<\/strong>, an equivalent to<strong> 4.2 million Euros<\/strong>, as stated on HEP website. This project is the second in the recent installments of power plants on Croatian islands, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/island-hvar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Island Hvar<\/a> is soon to get its own power plant, and plans on becoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/hvar-island-becoming-self-sufficient\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fully self-sufficient by 2035.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Croatian energy operator HROTE and Vis Solar Power plant (SPP Vis) signed a contract about temporarily entering the energy market, effective till the end of probation.
