Diving centre Foka d.o.o.<\/strong> organizes donor diving<\/strong> at the archaeological site Letavica<\/strong> near Simun on the island of Pag<\/a>, on Saturday, 5th of September, 2020, starting at 11:00 am.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The goal of the donor dive is to raise funds for the research of the ancient shipwreck<\/strong> which will take place from 19th to 27th of September, 2020.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Letavica site lies at a depth of 37 to 39 m, on the border of a rocky and sandy slope of the seabed, at a distance of about 130 m from the seashore. It is a group of about 400 well-visible amphorae that are typologically classified in the Lamboglia 2 <\/strong>group and can be divided into several variants. Judging by the basic characteristics of the shape, amphorae can be dated to the 1st century BC, i.e. at the time of the late Roman Republic. The amphorae are mostly covered with marine vegetation and have grown together into a compact whole. Only a small part has been removed from the main concentration of finds.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Vedran Doru\u0161i\u0107<\/strong>, organizer and leader of donor diving from the diving centre Foka says:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Anyone who has not dived at Letavica, the site of an ancient shipwreck, and who also wants to help preserve the cultural heritage, here is an opportunity to participate in donor diving. Namely, on Saturday, 5th of September, we will take participants to dive at the price they want to pay and all funds will go to the account as a donation for research in order to gain new knowledge about the site itself. Therefore, we invite clubs, friends, companies, associations, archaeologists, lovers of history, diving, people who love the island of Pag and anyone who wants to help<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

After the dive, the organizers took care of good fun and socializing with Pag cheese<\/strong> and other delicacies from the island.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
