The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WTM Responsible Tourism Award<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is given each year by the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Responsible Tourism Partnership<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> organization. This year, the ceremony took place at a tourism fair in London.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>The award was given to the Mali Losinj Tourist Board<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for their response and efforts given on tourism challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. More specifically, the Tourist Board, along with the town of Mali Losinj, the Epidemiology Center and other participants, were hailed for the actions they took upon finding out that Coronavirus infiltrated the island guests. The plan by the Mali Losinj Board was to ensure an \u201cinsurance policy\u201d. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The policy was basically <\/span><b>financial help to the property owners on the island in case their guests test positive to COVID-19.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Owners would receive a certain amount of money to self-isolate the guest, while the guest himself would receive help to get back to his\/hers native country.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, the award was given partly because of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/discover-losinj-ferry-free\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FERRY FREE campaign<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> implemented by the Mali Losinj. All guests which stayed on Losinj island for at least 7 nights in September received a discount for their accommodation. Discount was based on the price they paid for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/rijeka-mali-losinj\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ferry to Losinj<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the pandemic, the WTM award ceremony was a virtual event, the first time in its history. The judges specifically praised the companies and <\/span><b>destinations which responsibly battled the Coronavirus pandemic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
