A new policy about fishing in protected areas of Telascica and Lastovo has been announced. The rule book will cover <\/span><b>Telascica and Lastovo Nature Park<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which are considered as areas with special regulations when it comes to fishing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The new measures<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> were brought in cooperation with fishermen. A whole new set of measures will also be announced, which will significantly reduce the amount of fish being catched.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Everyone involved agrees this is a great environmental victory, as for the first time in Croatia, a no-fishing zone was implemented with fishermen agreeing to all the rules. Some of the measures were even proposed by them. The rule book was approved by the state institutions, local authorities and their associations which are protecting the environment of the Adriatic sea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Even WWF (World Wildlife Fund) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had a role in this, be it only diplomatic. Their task was to make all parties agree to the new rules which couldn\u2019t be implemented for years. The Fund also agrees this is a big step in preserving the Adriatic. The rule book for protecting the Telascica on Dugi otok is not perfect, however it\u2019s a good starting point. This is one of the first examples in the Mediterranean on how to preserve the protected areas.
