Figures about the island near Vis<\/a>, some 4.7 nautical miles southwest of Komi\u017ea<\/strong>, show that it has an area of about 6 square km, two sea attractions, the world-famous Blue Cave<\/strong>, but also the Bear Cave<\/strong>. Also, the island has only 11 inhabitants all year round.<\/p>\n

That is the island of Bi\u0161evo <\/strong>in numbers, but soon with its name and an invitation to tourists will be information about the newly built “Visitor Center Blue Cave – Bi\u0161evo<\/strong>” in the old school building in the heart of the island.\u00a0 There will also be 12.3 km of hiking and biking trails<\/strong>, but also a camera for tracking Eleonora’s falcons<\/strong>, and finally a “make-up” tunnel, i.e. the area of the artillery battalion on Cape Galijula<\/strong>, which stretches in the bowels of the earth at a depth of 35 m, above the southern bay of the island named Tre\u0161javac<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All this was presented to the Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Bla\u017eenko Boban<\/strong>, his associates and journalist teams, during a tour of the southernmost inhabited island of the county, which would now receive additional projects worth 27 million kuna<\/strong>.\u00a0 About 18.4 million kuna is non-refundable money from EU funds<\/strong>. This is great news for both the small domicile population and for the many visitors who increasingly choose the Vis archipelago as their destination.<\/p>\n

Difficulties of the project<\/h3>\n

Domagoj La\u017eeta<\/strong>, director of the Public Institution SD\u017d \u201cMore i kr\u0161\u201d<\/strong> said that in partnership with the City of Komi\u017ea, Komi\u017ea Tourist Board, “Blue World Institute for Marine Research and Protection” from Mali Lo\u0161inj<\/a>, they are implementing this important project, where the bunker will get a new function, as well as the renovated old school building.<\/p>\n

Regional leader Boban is extremely satisfied with the deadlines according to whose schedule everything should be ready by October the 1st. He also adds there were minor difficulties with material delivery due to the COVID pandemic. The county is the founder of a former primary school that is now abandoned and it will be, like some other abandoned schools in the county, converted for tourism purposes. It would be nice if the domestic tourists would be interested in coming here because we are not even aware of what kind of beauty we have.<\/p>\n

However, the locals are aware of this wealth, especially Zvonko Braj\u010di\u0107<\/strong>, the youngest resident of Bi\u0161evo at the age of 45 and a construction engineer and manager Ivan \u010curlin<\/strong> who took over the role of guide.<\/p>\n
