{"id":6710,"date":"2021-04-10T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-10T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/?p=6710"},"modified":"2022-12-03T07:43:04","modified_gmt":"2022-12-03T06:43:04","slug":"brac-hvar-korcula-and-the-cres-losinj-archipelago-on-the-path-to-clean-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/brac-hvar-korcula-and-the-cres-losinj-archipelago-on-the-path-to-clean-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"Bra\u010d, Hvar, Kor\u010dula and the Cres-Lo\u0161inj archipelago on the path to clean energy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Activities from the first phase of the <strong>Secretariat for Islands<\/strong> continue, in which among the <strong>26 European islands<\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/island-brac\/\">Croatian islands of Bra\u010d<\/a>, Hvar and Kor\u010dula and the <strong>Cres-Lo\u0161inj archipelago<\/strong> have drawn up energy transition plans, based on which they will be able to apply for European funds.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, it is an opportunity for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/islands-croatia\/\">other Croatian islands<\/a> that want to start their <strong>journey towards clean energy because<\/strong>, despite the abundance of renewable energy sources, many depend on fossil fuels and energy imports from the mainland. The transition to clean energy sources can help islands not only become more <strong>self-sufficient<\/strong> <strong>and prosperous<\/strong> but also <strong>open up new employment opportunities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Professional Support<\/h3>\n<p>As <strong>Maja Juri\u0161i\u0107 <\/strong>from <strong>Pokret Otoka<\/strong> says, for the next two years, the regional partner will cooperate with the Secretariat for Islands on further <strong>strengthening and expanding the network of islands<\/strong> that are ready to embark on an energy transition modelled on Bra\u010d, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/island-hvar\/\">Hvar Island<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/island-korcula\/\">Kor\u010dula Island<\/a> and the Cres-Lo\u0161inj archipelago. But this also refers to other islands such as <strong>Zlarin<\/strong> and <strong>Silba<\/strong> which continuously develop their capacities in the field of sustainable development and actively involve the local community in the transition process.<\/p>\n<p>For islands that are ready to start strategic planning, the <strong>Secretariat will provide support in finding funding sources and shaping future projects<\/strong>, while for islands that are just beginning the community engagement process, the Secretariat has prepared <strong>expert support for community building and defining transition strategies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Cres-Lo\u0161inj archipelago<\/h3>\n<p>The Cres-Lo\u0161inj archipelago is one of the &#8220;pilot&#8221; islands that were the first to make their energy transition plans, including <strong>seven islands<\/strong> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/island-cres\/\">Cres<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/island-losinj\/\">Lo\u0161inj<\/a>, <strong>Unije<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrycroatia.com\/en\/ilovik-catamaran-port\/\">Ilovik<\/a>, <strong>Susak<\/strong>, <strong>Vela<\/strong> <strong>Srakana<\/strong> and <strong>Mala Srakana<\/strong>.
