Christmas time is here! And what better way to be merry than in Croatia, especially with lots of Advent events going on in the cities and on the islands.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We\u2019ve handpicked a few of the most interesting ones which will surely make spending Christmas holidays in Croatia unforgettable and also make for an immersive experience of local Christmas traditions.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

So, if you\u2019re looking for ideas for your Christmas holiday in Croatia, read on.

We\u2019re starting off with a quick roundup of Advent programs on Croatian islands.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Krk on island Krk<\/a><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The biggest town on the island, Krk is hosting its first Advent in Krk<\/em> <\/strong>manifestation.
The manifestation started on November 27th <\/strong>and ends on Christmas eve, December 24th.<\/strong> Most of the events will take place just outside the Veliki park.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The manifestation is organized by the Tourist Board of City Krk, the City Krk Culture Center<\/strong> with the support of City Krk and Vecla which provides the city\u2019s Christmas decoration.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The program is full of concerts (e.g. The After Work Jazz Quartet and concerts of ambiental Christmas music), children’s theatre plays, workshops, and exhibitions. Of course, the atmosphere wouldn\u2019t be complete without the stands with local food, heartwarming tea, and mulled wine.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Supetar on island Bra\u010d<\/a><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

From December 17th until New Year\u2019s Eve the old fish market next to the Primary school in Supetar will become Christmas Corner,\u00a0 the go-to place for all merry Christmas lovers. It will start with a concert by the local band Naran\u010da.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Visitors will also get to enjoy karaoke nights, the Bra\u010dologija quiz, concerts of traditional music, chess tournaments, and a play by a local acting group.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This event is organized by City Supetar<\/strong> and the Tourist Board of City Supetar.<\/strong> Food and beverages will be provided by Apinello restaurant, cafe bar Lanterna and Slatka ku\u0107ica.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Hvar town on island Hvar<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

After a one-year break due to COVID-19, Croatia\u2019s sunniest island once again hosts its Christmas manifestation. Hvar town\u2019s Christmas program started on November 27th\u00a0and will include lots of interesting content: concerts in front of the Lo\u0111a, the oldest communal theatre in Europe, creative workshops for children, quizzes, and a New year\u2019s program for children.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If you’re situated on one of Croatia’s islands during the holidays but still want to check out how Christmas holidays are celebrated in Split and the capital Zagreb, here is some info on Advent in these cities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Split<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Lovers of good music and food will have a blast at Split this Christmas holidays. Until January 6th<\/strong>, enjoy a variety of Christmas events including skating in \u0110ardin <\/strong>city park and Mertojak neighborhood. Alongside \u0110ardin and Mertojak, there\u2019ll be events at the Cornaro fort <\/strong>and Perivoj <\/strong>near the city center.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Zagreb<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Advent in Zagreb is one of the most popular Christmas-themed events in Europe and this year it lasts until January 7th.
Check out the exhibition of Christmas trees on Gradec Plateau and take a picture for your Instagram profile. If you\u2019re looking for a fairytale atmosphere go to Bela the IVth park (Park Bele IV)<\/strong> and explore the Moon garden and its spectacular light installations.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
