Dagmar and Inge, a pair of griffon vultures who settled on the island of Plavnik, have become parents, the Public Institution Nature announced.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is always gratifying to hear that some of the endangered animal species in the wild have received offspring. This happened about a month ago to a famous pair of griffon vultures on the island of Plavnik, and the team that closely monitors their every step managed to capture a small bird this time, which they informed the public on their Facebook page.<\/span><\/p>\n

– As we announced and hoped, sometime in late February and early March, in the nest of our pair of vultures, which we monitor through video surveillance, a small bird saw the light of day! The bird has grown enough so far that we can spot it in the nest, although it is still covered with down and completely dependent on parents who regularly feed it, protect it from danger, warm it or protect it from too much sun or spring rain – it was published on the Facebook page of Javne Institution Nature, whose camera also recorded rare scenes of feeding a small griffon.<\/span><\/p>\n

By the way, griffon vultures lay only one egg a year, so each new offspring of this endangered bird of prey is positive news in itself.<\/span><\/p>\n
