It connects the south of Croatia with the rest of the country, and the historical event was commemorated throughout the day with a program that takes place on both sides of the bridge &#8211; at the rest areas of <strong>Brijesta and Komarna.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main opening ceremony started at 8:15 p.m. and culminated around 10 p.m. when <strong>Rimac\u2019s Nevera<\/strong> was the first car to cross the bridge with spectacular fireworks. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the middle of the Pelje\u0161ki bridge, Nevera passed by the car driven by <strong>Niko Puli\u0107<\/strong>, the former three-time European champion in mountain races.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bridge is the largest Croatian infrastructure project financed by EU funds with a grant of <strong>357 million euro<\/strong>s (85 percent of the costs), and several governments worked on it. The entire steel-concrete construction of the bridge below and above the water weighs as much as <strong>30 Eiffel Towers.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It crosses a sea strait 2140 meters wide, and is 2404 meters long, with a navigational profile under the bridge of 200 by 55 meters.
