Island Kolocep

Island Kolocep is the smallest of the 3 Elaphiti Islands and the one nearest to Dubrovnik, the Island which is less than 3 Km2 big and only has a whole year population of fewer than 200 people. During summertime, the island is home to hundreds of tourists staying at the Island as well as large numbers of people visiting on day trips from Dubrovnik. 

The car-free island has two settlements, Donje Čelo and Gornje Čelo each located at the bottom of a bay. Gornje Celo is located at the southeastern end of the Island overlooking the mainland, the larger Donje Celo is located at the north end of Kolocep Island, the distance between the two villages is about 1.5 Km.

Accommodation can be found in both settlements, in terms of hotel Sensimar Kalamota Island Resort (TUI BLUE) and Kalamota Beach House are the main options, apartments can be found in Donje Čelo and Gornje Čelo as well as in between the villages.

What to see and do on Kolocep

The main activity for guests on Island Kolocep is relaxing and enjoying, closely followed by swimming in the clear water which surrounds the Island. 

What is also recommendable is to explore all corners of the island following the walking trails which cover most parts of the island.

A must-do is a visit to the Blue Cave, a cave located on the southwestern end of the island, to get to the Blue cave, you will have to join a tour or rent a boat from Donje Čelo. 

Getting to Kolocep Island:

The ferry port on Kolocep is located in Gornje Čelo in the eastern part of the bay. The passenger ship route 807 from Jadrolinija has up to four daily departures between Dubrovnik and Kolocep, you can find timetable for all travel combination to / from Kolocep here, and also book tickets online:
