Rijeka ferry port

Rijeka is the third-largest city in Croatia and the second largest on the Croatian Adriatic coast. It’s considered the biggest Croatian port, even though there are not many passenger lines that go through Rijeka.  The ferry terminal of Rijeka is located in the very centre of the city, only around 350 m from the main promenade and all the exciting city sights.

Getting to and from Rijeka port

If you are staying in Rijeka and want to reach the islands of Cres, Rab, Mali Lošinj, Unije, Susak and so on, here is how you get to the ferry terminal from different city parts; most of the bus lines pass really close the ferry terminal (5 minutes walking from it).

From the old town to the ferry terminal, you can take bus numbers 1, 1A, 1B, 2, 4, 5 etc. The bus stop is 5 minutes walking from the ferry terminal and the city center, in general, is only 10 minutes walking (only a few bus stops).

If you’re staying in Kantrida (another popular part of the town), you have to take a bus number 1 to reach the ferry terminal.

The bus ticket is around 10 kn = a little bit more than a euro if you buy it on the bus.

From no matter which city part you can also take a taxi. From the city centre and Kantrida, it shouldn’t cost a lot, since it’s not a big distance.

If you’re staying in Kastav, you have to take the bus numbers 18, 18B or 18C. The trip takes around 20 minutes and the ticket is around 16 kn = around 2 euros bought on the bus.

If you’re staying in Opatija, you have to take a bus number 32 and the ticket is around 16 kn = around 2 euros bought on the bus.

All the buses run from early morning to late evening and there are pretty much frequent. Please note, that tickets are a little bit more expensive if bought on the kiosk.

Getting from Rijeka Airport to Rijeka port

The airport of Rijeka is located around 26 km from the Rijeka ferry terminal near the town of Omišalj on the island of Krk. Once you land, you can take a pre-booked transfer or you can take a taxi (around 30 euros). There are also shuttle buses running from the airport towards Rijekadrives to the main bus station in Rijeka. From there, you can take a local bus numbers 1, 2, 6 to the ferry terminal.  The ticket for the shuttle bus is 50 kn = 7 euros and the trip takes around 30 minutes.

Getting to Rijeka port from other destinations

Rijeka is very well connected by regular and seasonal bus lines with many Croatian and even some European destinations. The main bus station is located at around 10 minutes from the ferry terminal and you can take bus numbers 1, 2, 6 to get there, or you can take a taxi, especially if you’re with luggage.

If you are traveling by car, coming from the north or the south, taking the highway or the coastal road, once you enter Rijeka, you will see the sign for the city centre and the ferry terminal. The ferry terminal is located only 350 m from the city centre.

Rijeka port facilities

The ferry terminal is really close to the city centre and that is the reason why there are many facilities in the ferry terminal and near it: a ticket office, bars, restaurants, shops, banks, post office, historical sites, etc. The main bus station is only 10 minutes (on foot) away and the bus station for local lines is at 5 minutes walking.
