Boarding Bari port

Taking a ferry from Italy to Croatia means travelling from the Schengen zone to outside the zone, which means you have a passport and customs inspection at the port in Bari. The port is located in the centre of town and can not be missed, regardless of which direction you arrive in Bari from there are signs guiding you to the port, but the “Italian” system is of course not the most logical one in the world so here is how you get to the Dubrovnik ferry the right way

  1. What you should find is the main port entrance, if you use GPS this should take you to it ‘Varco Della Vittoria Porto di Bari’ from here you follow the road, till you see signs on your right hand mentioning “Check-In” which is on the left-hand side, where there is a big parking area, where you park the car and buy your ticket at the Jadrolinija desk or if you bought your ticket online you show your ticket/voucher and get a boarding ticket.
  2. Once you have your boarding ticket you can continue to the ferry, which is about 2.5 km southeast of the check-in area, which means DO NOT drive back to the port gate, but in the opposite direction.
  3. The ferry should be located at Molo S. Vito where you will enter a gate with the car.

On the ferry to Dubrovnik

The ferries are operated by the Croatian company Jadrolinija, the car ferry they use for the route has a restaurant, a self-service restaurant, a coffee bar and a play area for the kids. It is possible to be outside on the ferry if you wish to take some great photos when the ferry leaves Bari or arrives in Dubrovnik.

The ticket for the ferry includes seating in a deckchair, if you are on an overnight ferry, you have options to get a proper bed in a cabin, cabins are available for 2,3 or 4 people.

It is possible to pre-order a breakfast buffet, which is available from about 1.5 hours before the ferry reaches Dubrovnik.

2024 Bari to Dubrovnik Ferry Price

FAQ

I am going to Montenegro. Is this the best ferry connection?

In most cases, yes, but you actually have a ferry from Bari to Bar in Montenegro once a week.

Can a foot passenger go with the ferry?

Of course and the convenient part is that the ferry port in Dubrovnik is more or less in the centre of town.

We are a group travelling by bus, can we go on the ferry?

Yes, the ferry has space for any size of the vehicle, but please contact the ferry company to confirm and get information about the boarding procedure for buses.

Is there a bar/disco on the ferry?

No, there is a coffee bar where you can get alcoholic beverages, but the ferry is not a party cruise.

How many hours before do we have to be at the port?

As mentioned above, the navigation on the Bari port can be a bit tricky, so I would personally go there 3-4 hours before scheduled departure.

Does the cabin have a shower and toilet?

The cheapest cabins do not, but you can rent a cabin which has a shower and toilet as well.

If it is running how do I go about booking tickets? If it is an overnight ferry then I am interested in booking a cabin. Thank you.
