Infrastructure investments continue on Krk Island

In the upcoming months, several new projects will start developing on Krk island. One of them is the reconstruction of the Baska harbor, on the southeastern part of the island. It was announced recently that work on the harbor will begin shortly after the signing of the project’s contract.

Baska harbor reconstruction is one of the projects which will be financed by European Fund, aimed to improve the life of the locals, as well as to improve the connectivity between island and the mainland. The project is worth about 5.5 million euros and the deadline to finish it is December 2023. Some of the work which will be done include expanding the harbor area, which will ensure better safety for boats and ferries arriving at the port. Additionally, access for people with disabilities will also be available.

The second project which will be done in the upcoming years is the reconstruction of Krk harbor. Project is financed by the Krk Town and is set to finish by the end of 2023. Eastern parts of the fishing pier in Krk harbor will be reconstructed, as well as parts of the Krk promenade and beach around the marina. Total value of the project is about 2 million euros.

Third project, which will be fully financed by the European Fund, is fixing the forest park Dražica in Krk Town. The goal is to reconstruct the kids playground as well as set up new amenities, like street workout and adrenaline park. With these improvements, the park would serve as a place for kids and their sports activities. Activity center Krk is another project which has applied to receive financial support. It will represent a place where locals could engage in several activities all year round, as parts of the center would be protected from the wind and rain.
