Murter – 23rd Latin Sail Day regatta traditionally sailed

On the holiday of St. Mihovil sailed the regatta “23rd Latin Sail Day” after it was moved due to bad weather in its original term last Sunday.

Despite the delay and the situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, a large number of boats took part in the regatta. Guests arrived from various quarters to magnify this event. The mistral of about 15 knots followed the boats leut, gajeta and kaić on the route from the port of Murter, towards the islet of Sustipanac, after which sailing in the orc of the Murter channel and after turning the windward mark, the goal of the route was set at Velika Riva in the centre of Murter.

At sea, there were very interesting duels with constant changes at the top which was sponsored by an extremely long section of sailing with the wind. In the end, the victory went to gajeta named Ilka with Duje Fržop at the helm. Last year’s winners in the Trtuša gajeta, whose helmsman is Ante Turčinov, finished behind them, while the Marinka canoe with Jura Fržop at the helm finished in third place – said the president of the Latin Sail Association, Jakov Lovrić.

A total of 57 boats registered for the regatta, and 42 boats reached the finish line.
