PYRAMIDS ON DUGI OTOK- An artist builds them in his mother’s olive grove

SALI – There is everything on Dugi Otok island, even pyramids. One was unveiled or opened in August 2019, and the other, slightly smaller, will be unveiled this summer while the third is in the foundations.

Pyramids in olive trees, instead of those in the desert – an idea and creation of an artist from Sali, Vedran Petešić. Artist is known to the public for collecting ships in a bottle, and now he found an original way of presenting his hand’s work. He says that there were 300 people at the opening of the Great Pyramid of Sali. Petešić raised his tourist attraction in the olive tree garden of his mother, writes 057.info.

– The pyramid system has always fascinated me. Especially their mystery and symbolism, says Petešić, a builder from Dugi Otok.
It is not inappropriate to compare the glass pyramid at the square in front of the Louvre with its wooden construction in Sali.

In it, Vedran Petešić set up 400 of his exhibits as the curator of the exhibition, which is open to the public. The exhibition in the pyramid proved to be a safe space. During these years he didn’t notice that anything was missing from the wooden items that he made himself. That is my hobby, Petesic points out.

As well as collecting bottles with messages from the sea, which he has been doing for 13 years. So far, he has collected 149 bottles with messages from the waves of Dugi Otok. They are also exhibited in a pyramid built by Vedran Petešić, a self-taught artist from Sali.
