First 5 months on Krk and Pag announce a good season

According to the eVisitor system, which includes tourist traffic realized in commercial and non-commercial facilities and nautical charter, more than 1 million arrivals and 3.9 million overnight stays were realized in Croatia from January to the end of May, which is an increase compared to the same period last year.

Higher tourist numbers on the island of Krk

In the area of the island of Krk, in May 2021, there were 21,880 arrivals and 83,234 overnight stays. Compared to the same period in 2020 (lockdown), it is in arrivals higher by 542.39% and overnight stays higher by 652.79%.

Domestic guests made 4,244 arrivals (+42.20% compared to 2020) and 10,304 overnight stays (+225.82%), and foreign guests made 17,636 arrivals (+583.20%) and 72,930 overnight stays (+892.87%). Domestic guests participate in total overnight stays with 12.38% and foreign guests with 87.62%.

Germany had a share of 52% in total overnight stays in May which is an increase of 1,755.27%. Other markets are Slovenia in an increase of 310.65% followed by Austrians, Poles, Hungarians, Czechs, etc.

In the first five months of 2021, according to the data of the eVisitor on the island of Krk, a total of 36,156 arrivals and 128,346 overnight stays were realized. Compared to the same period in 2020 (lockdown), arrivals are 416.06% higher and overnight stays 339.3%.

Domestic guests made 12,904 arrivals (+430,42%) and overnight stays 33,165 (+203,34%) with a share of 25,84%, in the total turnover of the period, and foreign guests made 23,252 arrivals (+408,50%) and overnight stays 95,181 (+441.94%) and have a share of 74.16%.

Compared to 2019, the decrease is in arrivals by 65.62% and in overnight stays by 66.50%.

Pag island records more arrivals and overnight stays

In the first five months of 2021, there were 398,000 overnight stays in Zadar County, and there were 85,116 arrivals.

Most overnight stays were realized by tourists from Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland and the Czech Republic. The highest number of overnight stays so far this year was realized in hotels, household facilities and camps.

In the area of the City of Pag in the first five months of this year, there were 28,793 overnight stays which is 30% more than in the same period last year. There were also 5,756 arrivals, which is 120% more than in the same period last year. Last year as well, the hotel “Pagus” did not work, but this year it is working and it was already well filled for the recent holiday. There is also a good occupancy in the “Šimuni” camp.

In the first five months of this year, more overnight stays were realized in household facilities than last year. In the area of the City of Pag, everything is ready for the main part of the tourist season.
