The June tourist traffic data so far are optimistic

With the temperature rising in the thermometer, tourist numbers are slowly but surely growing! Good statistical indicators support the feeling that the tourist season is reaching full swing.

Namely, on June 12, 2021 (Saturday) there were 426 arrivals or 77% more than on the same day in 2020, as of the overnight stays there were 2,473 or 32% more than last year. In the period from the 1st to the 12th of June 2021, there were 4,604 arrivals or 123% more than last year. There were 24,208 overnight stays or 80% more than last year.

The hope that we will slowly return to the tourist norm, respecting all epidemiological measures, is confirmed by the fact that the 13th Rab Triathlon was held on the first weekend in June, while last weekend the island was dominated by cyclists at the first edition of Husquarna Rab Island Hero MTB Marathon which delighted more than 200 competitors.

In the first twelve days of June, Germans, Croats, Austrians, Slovenes and Czechs spent the most holidays in the town of Rab. For the same period, most tourists stay in family accommodation, 48% (almost half of all registered guests!), followed by 22% in camps, 15% in hotels, 9% in non-commercial accommodation and 6% in other accommodation facilities.

What can be especially pleasing is the gradual approach to the numbers from 2019, a record year. Namely, comparing the first twelve days of 2021 and 2019, this year we recorded a realization of 50% in arrivals and 48% in overnight stays. As quite strict restrictions were still in force at the beginning of June, these figures should be closer to those from 2019 in the rest of the month, as the situation is improving day by day (Rab currently has 3 active cases of COVID-19 diseases and 5 days without new cases).

In addition to the promotional activities they are engaged in, in order to make the destination desirable for tourists, the Rab Tourist Board Office appeals to all tourist workers to adhere to all epidemiological measures and to be vaccinated, all for their own protection and protection of their loved ones.
