Wine Barrels on Hvar island

Hvar Island – Wine, Olive & Heritage Festival

At the end of June, Jelsa on Hvar island becomes a place that will gather all lovers of wine, olive oil and tradition on Wine, olive & heritage festival.

After last year’s break, this year’s “Wine, olive & heritage festival” will be held from June 24 to 27. During the four-day event, indigenous products will be presented by local producers who will present the culture of life on the island of Hvar to visitors through their presentations.

The festival is intended for domestic and foreign tourists to promote domestic Hvar producers within the concept of “Mediterranean diet” which inherits “a set of knowledge and skills about the careful treatment of natural land and sea resources important for food availability, quality of living space and stable ecological system.”

The idea of the festival is for local people to create it with their products and ideas, with their desire for common progress, but also to learn something new with the guests. The festival strives to promote “all the best of Hvar” on a fun and educational level.

The festival’s official opening will be in the central Jelšane Park, where a gastro show of caterers from the island of Hvar will be held, with a variety of Hvar specialties and a presentation of island products made of lavender, immortelle and various herbs of our sunniest island.

A tasting of olive oils and wines with the Association of Hvar Winemakers is planned, followed by evening lectures on island products as the basis of the Mediterranean diet and lectures on the Mediterranean diet as a way of life.

You can find a detailed program on the official website of the Jelsa Tourist Board.
