Losinj island achieved results from 2019

Thanks to the quality promotion of key benefits and benefits of the island of Lošinj as well as activities that further contributed to the safe stay of guests, Mali Lošinj achieved 98% of tourist results in overnight stays and 94% in arrivals in August, compared to 2019.

In August, Mali Lošinj was visited by 80,281 guests who spent 743,348 nights. The largest number of guests visited us on August 10 when we recorded a visit of 27,017 guests. 

Camps exceeding 2019 results

The most visited in August were the camps, which almost doubled the number of arrivals and overnight stays compared to 2020 while exceeding the 2019 result by 5%. Family accommodation is at 95% occupancy, while hotels are at 93% of 2019 overnight stays. Catering facilities for accommodation follow with 86.4% of the realization, while non-commercial accommodation achieved 93% of the results from 2019.

Germans still a leading nationality visiting Croatia

Guests from the leading emitting markets of Germany, Slovenia, Italy and Austria are primarily responsible for such good achievements. The Germans were thus the most numerous guests in August with 206,464 overnight stays (double last year’s turnover in August and 27.8% of the share in total overnight stays). They are followed by Slovenes (21.7%) with 161,340 overnight stays. The third place was taken by Croats (14.6%) with 108,701 overnight stays and Italians (10.4%), Austrians (8%), Czechs (3.1%), Poles (2.3%) and other countries (12.1%).

The overall results close to 2019

In the first eight months of 2021, a total of 1,650,922 overnight stays were realized on Lošinj (83% of 2019) and 200,865 arrivals (76% of 2019).

Looking at the results in 2020, there were half a million more overnight stays and 69,200 more guest arrivals.

Camps record 634,406 overnight stays (38.5%), followed by family accommodation with 331,199 overnight stays (20.1%), hotels 12%, and other catering facilities for accommodation with 10.9%, while non-commercial accommodation accounts for 18.5% of tourist traffic.

Slovenes are on top as the most numerous guests, so 28.7% of them stayed on Lošinj in the first eight months. They are followed by Germans (21.4%), Croats (15.9%), Austrians (8%), Italians (7.6%), Czechs (3.7%) and other guests (14.7%).

This year, the guests stayed on the island of vitality for an average of 8.2 days, while in the previous 2019 they stayed for 7.6 days.

With these results, Mali Lošinj confirmed its position at the very top of the most visited destinations in Croatia. We are currently recording more guests on the island of Lošinj than in 2019 (17,000 guests), and the announcements for September and October are very good. The guests are additionally motivated to come thanks to the festival “Lošinj sails around the world” in September, and numerous sports, cultural and gastronomic events. If we continue to be responsible and adhere to epidemiological measures, and remain a safe Mediterranean destination, we can expect excellent tourist results in the off-season.
