MRRFEU – The Register of Islands in Croatia

On February the 25th, 2021, the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds established the Register of Islands, an important step in the future development of Croatian islands.

The Register of Islands records in one place all 1,244 islands, islets and reefs in the Republic of Croatia classified according to external characteristics, features and other parameters important for the management, use and preservation of a unique island geographical unit.

What is the Register of Islands?

In the long run, the Register of Islands has been designed as an integrated information system of island indicators with connections to web services of more than 30 public bodies in the Republic of Croatia that have data on islands within their jurisdiction, thus creating a common state information infrastructure.

The aim of the Register of Islands is data and cartographic recording of all 78 islands, 524 islets and 642 cliffs that are an integral part of the territory of the Republic of Croatia, creating databases for islands that will serve as a basis for analytical reports necessary for further directions and effective island development policy.
