New ferries announced on Split-Ancona and Biograd-Tkon lines

International line Split – Ancona and domestic line Biograd – Tkon both have new ferries which will be operating the routes. Jadrolinija has bought a new ferry called Tkon, formerly owned by the company Rapska Plovidba.

The ferry has a total length of 42 meters, a width of 15.3 meters, and a capacity of 250 passengers and 35 vehicles. The vessel was built in 2003, and now expands Jadrolinija’s fleet to 55 ferries. Tkon will replace the 50-year-old ferry called Prizna. Acquiring of the new ferry is aimed at providing better service to passengers, as well as better working conditions for the ferry crew.

Tkon ferry is planned to be activated sometime in the summer season, a period when more crowds are expected. The ferry got its name from the town of Tkon, located on Pasman island. It is the fourth new ferry added to the company’s fleet in the past four years. 

SNAV company activates new ferry to Split

In 2021, the Italian ferry company SNAV will operate the route Split – Ancona. The novelty on the route is a new ferry, whose outside look will catch the attention of passengers. Both sides of the ferry are painted by cartoon characters, such as Bugs Bunny and Dodo the Duck.

The ferry is named Moby Corse, it was built 43 years ago, has a length of 153 meters, and a width of 26 meters. The total capacity of the boat is 1370 passengers and 400 vehicles, achieving a maximum speed of 21 knots. The first journey is planned from on 27th June at 19:30h, from the Split ferry port. The ferry used to sail under both Danish and French flags and was bought by SNAV in 2009.

Ferry schedule to Lokrum Island announced

Lokrum island, a favorite day-trip destination for both locals and tourists, is a protected forest area. The island is also home to a botanical garden. The ferry to the island departs from Dubrovnik, and the trip lasts about 10 minutes.

With that in mind, the Lokrum Preserve administration has announced a new ferry schedule. Starting from Wednesday, June 16th, the boats Skala and Zrinski will sail according to the new timetable. The last ship will depart at 19:00h. The first departure is at 09:00 from Dubrovnik ferry port, and after that boats depart to the island every 30 minutes. In case of bad weather conditions, the boats will not sail.
