PAG – A new fishing port will be built in Novalja

A new fishing port worth over HRK 34 million will be built in Novalja on Pag island.

Novalja is getting a new fishing harbor with 31 berths for vessels up to 20 meters in length. The fishing port will be a safe and operational landing port for fishermen, as well as a safe shelter. As part of the fishing port, the length of the operational coastline will also increase – reports radiopag.hr

The value of the project is HRK 34,372,026.13. Of this, 75% is financed by the European Union, and 25% by the Republic of Croatia, and the financing will be consolidated through the Ministry of Agriculture from the Measure “Fishing Ports, Landing Places, Fish Exchanges and Shelters”, Operational Program for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

The City of Novalja financed the preparatory work and documentation for the construction permit of the project. The name of the project is “Reconstruction and extension of the northern breakwater”, next to the fishing part of the harbor open to public traffic in the city of Novalja-1. phase. The existing breakwater facility with a length of 279.59 meters of the mooring shore, which is 241.03 m long on the inner side, will be reconstructed and lengthened by 78 m.

The protective stone thrower on the outside will be rebuilt with the size of stone blocks suitable for the conditions and location, the coastal walls will be reconstructed by dismantling the existing ones and built on the new part of the breakwater. The width of the breakwater will be 20.90 m with a promenade along the mooring shore and a road with a parking lot and a protective stone thrower on the outside of the parapet wall.

Before the start of construction work on the new fishing harbor in Novalja, the Port Authority of Novalja signed a contract for the reconstruction and extension of the northern breakwater – the fishing part of the port open to public traffic in the city of Novalja – 1. phase. The contract was signed between the Port Authority of Novalja as the client and the company “G.A.M.I.K” d.o.o. as a contractor. The contract was signed by the director of the Port Authority of Novalja, Tomislav Kustić, on behalf of the client, and by the director of “G.A.M.I.K” d.o.o. on behalf of the contractor. Krešo Gabrić. The construction of the new fishing port will be completed next year.
