Croatian PM: “Pelješac bridge will be completed in January”

After his visit to the Pelješac bridge construction site, Croatian PM Andrej Plenkovic said that the bridge will be completed around the end of January. The access roads are also nearing the end of construction.

The PM also added that the third and fourth stages are well on their way to completion. The third stage refers to the construction of access roads by the Austrian company Strabag and the Greek Avax, while the fourth stage refers to access roads near Ston, a small town in the vicinity of Pelješac. The fourth stage should be wrapped up by the beginning of autumn.

This means, said the PM, that traffic on the bridge will be possible during the summer season, when millions of tourists visit Croatia. He also added that this means faster travel time to the South of the country, thus making Croatia a propulsive auto destination, which is especially important in 2022.

Also present on the tour of Pelješac bridge was the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butkovic.

He said, “Despite all difficulties that accompanied the beginning of the implementation of this most important project, the Croatian Government has once again proved that it knows how to implement large infrastructure projects that go beyond national importance and that it can also fulfill promises!”
