Misnjak Rab Ferry

Celebration of the 58th Anniversary of Rapska Plovidba

The fishing boat “Ćutin” which on June 1, 1963 sailed the first line Jablanac – the port of Rab was renovated. From the ship “Ćutin” to the present day, i.e. to the construction of the ferry “Četiri Zvonika“, 10 ferries have been procured or built.

The arrival of larger and more modern ferries was accompanied by the construction of ferry ports. Thus, in 2012, the ferry port Stinica was built, which unfortunately did not get the shape and contents that Stinica, which is the gate of tourist Rab, should have, even though the Port Authority of Senj regularly receives the revenue that should be used for those purposes.

Since 1995, Rapska Plovidba has been operating as a joint-stock company and in addition to the shareholders of the City of Rab, it is owned by the people of Rab island as natural persons.

The permanent connection of Rab with Lun

As the area of Lun, together with Jakišnica, administratively belonged to the former municipality of Rab, the people of Rab also voluntarily decided to open the ship-passenger line Rab-Lun in 1974 with the boat “Igor”, later “Amico”, because unprofitable shipping lines were abolished. Rab is now connected to Lun by the boat “Maslina“, and as of July 1, 2017, it has the status of an inter-county line. Although this line generates little traffic, its customers praise its value as gold.

Transported 34 million passengers and close to 11 million vehicles

Generations of sailors of Rapska Plovidba have transported almost 34 million passengers and nearly 11 million vehicles of all categories since 1963. This is also an opportunity to remember and thank all the sailors and employees who are no longer among us, and who in their life have contributed to the survival and development of the Rapska Plovidba company.

The year 2020 was the most difficult in history for Rapska Plovidba due to the COVID-19 pandemic and reduced traffic, as well as to many other economic entities, but there are high hopes the pandemic will end and that better years are ahead.

Rebuilding the fleet is a permanent task that Rapska Plovidba has taken care of throughout its history. New trends in the construction of ferries also bring new green technologies, which is a challenge for both shipowners and port authorities in the construction of supporting infrastructure.

First ones to apply island prices

At all state ferry lines, including the route Stinica-Mišnjak, from June 1 to September 30, seasonal (higher) prices apply, but ticket prices for all islanders remain the same throughout the year. Here, as part of history, it is convenient to mention that Rapska Plovidba was the first in 1997 to start applying island prices, although only for the people of Rab, and in 2004 the state introduced a system of island prices for all islanders.

Through its business, Rapska Plovidba continues to make a great contribution to the sustainable development of the island and at the same time welcomes everyone who uses and will use its services.
